Hand-built in our Central Virginia woodshop, the Esmont natural platform bed marries traditional construction and clever design. Embrace your style by choosing between two headboard heights and either a solid or slatted look.
Made to last for generations, the Afton features closely-spaced poplar slats and solid steel, mortised-in corner brackets. Each corner has three tenons for optimal strength and durability. Simple assembly; no tools required.

One of the most unique aspects of our platform beds is that no tools are required for assembly. That’s right—it’s actually easy.
We wanted to create a piece that was beautiful, functional, and simple to put together.
Because our platform beds are made of solid maple and poplar wood, natural variations may occur. Humidity has the ability to expand solid wood. This is normal and will not negatively impact the structure or beauty of the furniture piece.
It’s important to us that our stains are safe for our customers as well as our woodworkers who are using them every day in our woodshop. This is why we’ve opted for zero-VOC finishes.
Choose between linseed oil, cedar, mahogany, or walnut.

I purchased the Esmont King slotted bedframe for my first home I recently closed on.
Communication: Communication with the company was great during the entire process. My bedframe was finished well ahead of the estimated time when I was out of town. I spoke with customer service, and they were able to delay the delivery until the day I got home.
Packaging: The bedframe was packaged in four separate boxes, and it was packed very well. it took just as much time to fully unpack the frame as it did to build it lol. The company makes sure it is safe during shipping.
Assembly: Relatively easy to assemble. It comes with Allen wrenches, but you’ll do it faster if you have a hex bit socket wrench. I used mine and it cut assembly time in half. Very straight forward instructions.
Final: The bedframe, once assembled, is absolutely beautiful. I’m beyond happy with the finish and quality of the furniture. This should last you forever as long as you properly take care of it.

The Twin XL I bought is excellent! I had concerns about a bed that “clicked” together, but I’ve found the bed to be very solid, stable and does not creak (I weigh 250 pounds.). Assembly was quick and easy and did not require any tools. Looks great, and the zero-VOC finish is uniform, enhances the wood grain, and does not emit any smells, petroleum or otherwise.

We’ve only had this bed for a couple weeks, but the wood and construction is beautiful. It was super easy to assemble and basically clicked together. So far no creaking/rocking and seems very stable. Nice to know that we’re not breathing in toxic fumes while we sleep (at least not from the bed frame). It was very hard to find a bed frame made with non-toxic materials/finishes, and we’re very happy we settled on this particular bed!
