Inside the Earthspring
Here's how the Earthspring™ natural innerspring mattress differs from other innersprings.
The top image shows the Earthspring's interior. It's constructed with one layer of soft Dunlop natural latex, a layer of coir (coconut fiber blended with natural latex), a recycled steel innerspring, and another coir layer on the bottom. Rounds of extra quilting are inserted to cushion the springs. The organic mattress casing's wool batting (not visible) serves as as a natural flame retardant.
The bottom image shows the interior of a conventional innerspring mattress, like many we have recycled. Over the innerspring is a mix of unknown-fiber mats and batting, topped with a thin layer of synthetic foam. Toxic flame retardants are commonly used to meet federal fire safety requirements.
