We are all about organic products at Savvy Rest, from our mattresses to our sheets to our sofas. Your health is incredibly important, so why settle for anything less than organic? Countless mattresses on the market are filled with chemical flame retardants that can lead to cancer, obesity and infertility. Going organic means saying goodbye to these health hazards.
What is “Organic?”
We see the word all the time when shopping for fruits and vegetables at the grocery store or at the local farmers’ market. Although a mattress is not a cucumber, the word “organic” carries the same important health standards. This means no pesticides, synthetic ingredients, or harsh chemicals are used in the making (or growing) of a product. For example, our Dunlop latex is certified organic by the Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) and also meets the requirements of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The rubber tree sap that is used to make our Dunlop latex comes from a supplier who follows USDA guidelines. You can read more about our other certifications here.
We Sleep...A Lot
We sleep for about a third of our lives—that’s a significant amount of time. You may not use your toaster or your vacuum cleaner everyday, but you definitely use your mattress. When you sleep at night, you’re breathing in everything around you and if your mattress is made of synthetic foam, you’re breathing in harmful toxins through dust particles. You know what is even more alarming? Children breathe in these toxins at a rate that is five times greater than adults.
