Do you snore? Or maybe your spouse snores and it disrupts your sleep?
We get it. Snoring is loud and not the best sound machine for a tranquil night’s sleep.
While there isn’t a pillow on the market that can 100% guarantee you’ll stop snoring, there are pillows to help with snoring that can give you a much better chance of relief. It’s all about the design–focusing on elevation and support.
Simply switching your pillow may decrease the amount of snoring you or your spouse experience, or perhaps even eliminate the problem altogether if the cause is based on sleep position.
Below is our top pick when looking at the best pillow for snoring.
Why Do You Snore?
Snoring can be caused by a variety of factors, such as…
- Mouth breathing
- Obesity
- Sleep apnea
- Alcohol Consumption
- Nasal Congestion
- Deviated Nasal Septum (broken nose)
- Sleep position
- Pregnancy
- Swollen tonsils
- Hypothyroidism
- Sedatives
- Growing older
Is Snoring Dangerous?
Most of the time, snoring is nothing to worry about. According to Johns Hopkins, about 25% of adults snore regularly, and a much larger group (45%) snore intermittently.
However, that’s not to say there aren’t some cases where it is more of a cause for concern. For example, if your snoring is due to sleep apnea, which interrupts and halts your breathing, it is important to see your doctor for proper treatment.
Your doctor may recommend participating in a sleep study to establish the cause of the snoring, and make a plan for how to remedy it.
Our Favorite Wedge Pillow
When looking at bed wedge pillows, you’ll notice they are an unusual shape. They look like a wedge of cheese, angled and sloped. Not exactly a traditional feather pillow!
It is this unique design that gives you critical elevation when trying to address issues like snoring, sleep apnea, GERD, and more.
When elevating the head and arching the neck more upright, this opens up your airway, making breathing easier. It can also help encourage you to breathe through your nose rather than your mouth. Breathing from the mouth in general can lead to snoring, but snoring can also be caused by obesity, nasal congestion, and even alcohol consumption (a great opportunity to try a delicious mocktail).

More Anti-Snoring Pillow Options
If you are not interested in a latex wedge pillow, there are other options.
The key is being elevated enough, so you could always try using a very full pillow (or two) to keep you upright as you sleep.
Savvy Rest offers four customizable organic pillows that arrive intentionally overstuffed so they are very full and with that, have some height to them! You can remove as much of the fill as you’d like and save it for later, but in this instance, we would recommend keeping them on the fuller side.
Choose from four different pillow fills: natural shredded latex, organic kapok, organic wool, or a wool-latex blend.
Keep in mind that if you leave the majority of the fill alone, it will be a firmer pillow. For example, kapok is a fluffy and soft plant-based fiber, but when the pillow is very full, it has a firmer feel. If you prefer that softer feel, unzip the pillowcase and remove some of the fill. If you remove the fill, we do strongly recommend using 2 pillows for that extra height.
